There had never been a drum set in the little chapel. But, Pastor Chuck asked me to bring my drums and set up on the stage.

I had never been so nervous, ever. But, I did what I’d been asked. I was sure I’d be thrown off the stage, and told never to return. Drums in church?

I closed my eyes, refusing to look at the crowd as I took my seat on the drum throne. And just as I was to start, there came a loud and sure voice ...

“Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord!”

“Now, John will praise the Lord on His drums.”

I never looked up and I played with all my heart to Jesus. I still do.
